IRON LYNX SET FOR 2025 FIA WEC HOMECOMING AT IMOLA

The FIA World Endurance Championship is headed back to action this weekend and coming from the sandy dunes of Qatar, the series will hit much closer to home for Iron Lynx with the 6 Hours of Imola on Easter weekend. Laying on the banks of the Santerno River in the border area between Emilia and Romagna, Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari is the home track for Iron Lynx. About half an hour away from the team’s headquarters outside Cesena, the popular Grand Prix venue is steeped in motorsports history having hosted legendary events on two and four wheels, seeing the best (and sometimes unfortunately the worst) of what racing has to offer.

Back from a promising ELMS opener in Barcelona, the team is lining up with plenty new experience under its belt. The goal after Qatar was to get more chemistry with its new Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 racecars and with the torque sensor system, which requires precise engine mapping to maximize torque delivery. With a good amount of testing done between Qatar and Imola, and one more race completed in Catalunya, positive steps were made on the engine control front.

Iron Lynx is looking to bounce back from the challenges of Lusail with the returning lineups of the #60 and #61 cars. Claudio Schiavoni and Matteo Cressoni will rely on the momentum of their brilliant podium in the ELMS opener, and Matteo Cairoli, who was also extremely competitive albeit unlucky on Spanish soil, is looking to be the reference element in the all-Italian trio.

Returning to the #61 car, Christian Ried scored great results in FIA WEC at Imola in the past, and he will again be partnered by Lin Hodenius and Maxime Martin. The Dutchman has good knowledge of the track having competed there in Formula 4, while the Belgian stepped on the Imola podium in the 2024 6-hour Imola race.

The drivers already had a taste of Italy’s passionate welcome to FIA WEC with a spectacular event in the city center, featuring a live presentation and an open autograph session for fans. The action starts with Free Practice 1 on Friday at 11:15.

“It feels so good to be competing at home and to do so with our shiny new Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 cars that I’m sure the fans will love. Imola is a unique place, with so much history, and it’s an awesome track from the driver’s perspective. It’s also a tricky one for traffic and strategy concerns, especially with variable weather, so it requires the highest level in terms of execution. We are looking forward to seeing what the weekend will bring.”
