IRON LYNX GRABS P13, P15 IN 6 HOURS OF IMOLA

The FIA World Endurance Championship signed off today at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari and returning to action close to home, Iron Lynx experienced a multi-faceted race in the 6 Hours of Imola in front of a stellar crowd of more than 65.000 cheering fans.

Lining up on Easter Sunday, the team was coming off a tough qualifying session and was looking to complete a consistent race. In the end, it brought both cars to the finish, with the #61 crossing the line in P13, and the #60 in P15.

Claudio Schiavoni started the yellow Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 and delivered a consistent opening stint. Unfortunately, an untimely safety-car situation early in the race led to the necessity of a double pit-stop which cost track position early. Still, Schiavoni, Matteo Cressoni and Matteo Cairoli pushed through to finish the race in P15.

Christian Ried started the #61 car and also had a good first stint. Lin Hodenius completed his first stint in FIA WEC after the ill-fated Qatar debut, and the young Dutchman was impressively quick despite picking up a track-limits penalty in a globally very positive maiden GT experience at this level.

Maxime Martin made strides early in the race, and returned to the cockpit in the final two stints, putting up a remarkable recovery up to P13. The Belgian Mercedes-AMG Performance Driver once again proved a key asset and will be even more so in his home race, May’s 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.

Difficult race. We finished in P13, the first race we finished, but we have to learn, analyze and understand why we are so far away and improve for the next races.

Maxime Martin – Driver, #61 Mercedes-AMG LMGT3

It was an eventful race and it was nice to have this first experience in FIA WEC. I’m rather happy with it overall even though it was quite tough to manage with the track limits, but it’s something to learn moving forward. I think we will have a good one in Spa.

Lin Hodenius – Driver, #61 Mercedes-AMG LMGT3

I’m quite satisfied with how the race went today and I think the team did a solid job. We brought two cars to the finish and even showed positive flashes of pace despite some tricky situations. I think we maximized what we had, and we look forward to continuing the work for the next round at Spa-Francorchamps.
