Team moves up to prototype class, continues with Pianezzola, Bertocco
Iron Lynx will continue its run in the Ligier European Series in 2025, reaffirming the team’s commitment to talent development. Running alongside the European Le Mans Series and the FIA WEC, the championship was intended as the first step of the ACO endurance ladder. The season will feature six rounds consisting of two hour-long races each, featuring cars of two different categories.
After fielding a Ligier JS2 R racecar in 2024 and securing one win at Mugello and two pole positions with Gregorio Bertocco and Matteo Pianezzola, Iron Lynx will continue with the same pairing for 2025, moving up to the Ligier JS P4 class. One year after stepping up from karting Bertocco and Pianezzola will now be competing for the overall honours, making another step in their highly-competitive motorsport path.
The series will kick-off in early April at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, before heading to Circuit Paul Ricard and Le Mans, where it will be supporting the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Three more rounds joint with ELMS will wrap the season up at Spa-Francorchamps, Silverstone, and Portimão.
Iron Lynx was born as an Academy for Young talents before becoming a racing team so it’s part of our DNA to help drivers developing their skills and fulfill their potential. Matteo and Gregorio made good steps throughout the 2024 season and we are confident that they will continue progressing with the new car. It will be challenging, as they will be moving for the first time to a car with a lot mor downforce and cornering speed, but we’re confident they will learn quickly and be up to speed to fight at the front.
