IRON LYNX SET FOR ALGARVE GT OPEN DEBUT

Iron Lynx is aiming for a quality weekend at Autodromo do Algarve as the Portuguese circuit welcomes the team for the opening round of the International GT Open. The one-off effort, taken in preparation for the planned three-car Le Mans program, involves the father-son duo of Stephen and Brenton Grove.
As their native Melbourne, Australia, is headed towards winter time, the Grove duo has landed in a superb destination. The track is near Portimão, one of the Country’s top holiday destinations, and with collaborating weather, warm and sunny throughout the weekend, conditions are expected to be racing-perfect.
In addition to the pleasing overall experience, the 4.653 Km track is renowned as one of Europe’s most spectacular rollercoasters, with challenging ups and downs, hard braking zones, and fast and blind corners.
The team will be running for the first time in a race setting with the original-spec Mercedes-AMG GT3. It will also be the team’s first time in the series, which features a double race over the weekend.
After sanctioned testing and practice on Thursday and Friday respectively, two qualifying sessions, one for each driver, will be held on Saturday and Sunday morning. The races feature two stints with a single driver change window. Race 1 is 70 minutes long with refueling, while the 60-minute Race 2 will cap off the weekend on Sunday.
It’s great to welcome Stephen and Brenton on board with an early race in GT Open and even more to see Stephen back competing and in full shape. The GT Open championship grew a lot in the past two seasons and offers a good environment to prepare for the challenges ahead, so we are delighted to make our debut in the series. Portimao is one of the European tracks that our drivers know best and like the most, so it’s the perfect place to start preparing our Le Mans attack!
