IRON LYNX READIES FOR SEASON-OPENING QATAR 1812KM RACE

2025 SEASON STARTS WITH TOUGH 10-HOUR RACE

The time has finally come for the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship in Qatar and while the teams and drivers have been on site for a week to undergo media days and the traditional Prologue, the Qatar 1812KM event is soon set to take the action to the next level.

The weekend will kick off early with practice on Wednesday, while the race will be starting at 14:00 on Friday. It will be heading into the darkness with a midnight time limit falling at the 10-hour mark.

Iron Lynx lines up for the event with a strong two-day prologue and the two brand-new Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 delivering consistently and reliably. The long race will provide many challenges, starting from its sheer length and the different conditions expected. Compared to the Prologue, temperatures have dropped, and strong winds have been a feature in the beginning of the week. In addition, the transition from day to night has the potential to further complicate the picture.

While the front straight is one of the longest at more than one kilometer, traffic is also expected to become an issue especially considering that Lusail has the highest speed differential between Hypercars and LMGT3 racers.

The highly-anticipated return of Mercedes-AMG in the World Endurance Championship relies on the #60 and #61 cars. Claudio Schiavoni, Matteo Cressoni and first-time Qatar starter Matteo Cairoli will be competing in the yellow-themed car, while the black-themed car will be shared by the combination of bronze driver Christian Ried joined by the series’ youngest rookie Lin Hodenius and Maxime Martin.

We cannot wait for the start of practice and for the opening race. We worked very hard to be prepared for it and we tried to be as efficient as possible in the time available since we joined forces with AMG. After the 2 positive days of the Prologue, we target to continue improving our knowledge of the car and the development of the engine control with torque sensors during the 3 practice sessions. After that, we will focus on optimizing our strategy for the race.
