Cairoli, Hodenius complete 2025 FIA WEC lineup as Italian Squad showcases liveries for brand-new Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 racecars
Iron Lynx is delighted to announce the full lineup and liveries for its two brand-new Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 race cars as it continues preparations for the upcoming 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship effort. The team will be proudly representing the legendary German manufacturer starting with the FIA WEC Qatar Prologue and the Qatar 1812KM race.
The #60 car will feature Claudio Schiavoni, Matteo Cressoni and Matteo Cairoli. While Schiavoni and Cressoni are set for their fifth FIA WEC season together, Matteo Cairoli will continue his journey with the team after joining Iron Lynx for the 2024 FIA WEC finale at Bahrain International Circuit and delivering impressive performance. The 28-year-old Italian is an FIA WEC veteran with eight Le Mans 24 Hours starts under his belt.
The #61 car will be raced by Christian Ried, Maxime Martin, and Lin Hodenius. Ried will return to full-time racing after one season where he only competed in two FIA WEC events. The German driver has been racing in every FIA WEC season since the inception of the series in 2012. Like Ried, Martin will make his first start in the series under the Mercedes-AMG banner, having joined the manufacturer’s roster as a Performance Driver since the beginning of 2025. An 18-year-old from the Netherlands, Hodenius is coming from single-seaters, having competed in Formula 4 for the last two years.
To highlight the new partnership and underline the collaboration effort between Iron Lynx and Mercedes-AMG, the team’s liveries will acknowledge the history of both the team and the manufacturer, with nods to their historical colours and past success.
The Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 model will be competing for the first time in the FIA WEC. Based on the state-of-the-art Mercedes-AMG GT3, it was developed to comply with the FIA WEC regulations and is equipped with the mandatory torque sensors. The brand will also be making its Le Mans return after more than 25 years for the 93rd edition of the twice-around-the-clock classic.
We are very satisfied with how the driver lineup has shaped up, and for the positive collaboration that we have established so far with Mercedes-AMG as we prepare for this new program. So far we have really enjoyed working on the process and preparations. On the one hand, we will continue with the experienced combination of Claudio and Matteo, and we will add Matteo Cairoli, who already competed with us last year. He is a really quick driver and has a wealth of FIA WEC experience.
On the other hand, we will bring back the driver with the most starts in the series, Christian Ried, pairing him with a young racer entering his rookie season, Lin Hodenius. He was extremely impressive straight away in testing and we selected him among all potential candidates despite his young age and limited endurance racing experience. Joining him and Ried, Maxime Martin will provide incredible value. In addition to being a long-time friend, he is one of the world’s strongest competitors in endurance racing.
