A TALE OF ICONS: LAMBORGHINI IRON LYNX SET FOR INDY DEBUT

It’s one legendary venue after another for Lamborghini Iron Lynx as the team continues its relentless 2024 program between FIA WEC and IMSA. The month of September, which started with the Lone Star Le Mans and continued with the 6 Hours of Fuji, is set to sign off with the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks at the Racing Capital of the World, Indianapolis Motor Speedway. A place where legends are made, Indy has an unfathomable amount of history that dates back to 1909. From its banked corners to the grandstands, the iconic scoring pylon, and the beautiful pagoda building, its presence alone is enough to leave even the most experienced competitors in awe.

The IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup will race at the Brickyard’s road course, already home to IndyCar and NASCAR in the past few years. Indy will be Round 4 of the 2024 Endurance Series, and after debuting with a points finish in Round 2 at Sebring, the Lamborghini SC63 LMDh race car will be back to achieve another positive result. Last time around at Watkins Glen, the #63 car fought within the top-five, although it was eventually sidelined by an issue.
 
The driving talent pool will consist of the brick-mastering trio of Matteo Cairoli, Andrea Caldarelli, and Romain Grosjean. Both Cairoli and Caldarelli have previous GT experiences at the Brickyard with positive results to their credit, while Grosjean will headline the team with his expertise. The Frenchman has multiple career starts at the Grand Prix of Indianapolis in IndyCar including two podium finishes, in addition to his runs on the world’s most famous oval race – the Indy 500.

As always in IMSA, the team will have to make the most out of the limited running on a new racetrack. Come race day, the strategy variables and high chances for Safety Car situations will require a multi-faceted approach, providing more chances and a close pack of competitors.
 
The 6-hour TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks will go underway at 11:40 Eastern Time, while the cars will enter the world-famous Gasoline Alley for the first time with a 90-minute practice session on Friday.

Having the chance to race in this incredible place is already an amazing experience. Doing so in such a competitive championship is even more exciting and challenging for our operation. It’s been an intense month between COTA, Fuji, and Indy, but it was full of good promise. There is improvement every time we go on track, which signifies that we are following the right direction, and even operation-wise, we are in a good place with further room for improvement. So we are heading into the weekend to make further gains and keep learning.
