LAMBORGHINI IRON LYNX SET FOR LONE STAR STATE CHALLENGE

LAMBORGHINI IRON LYNX SET FOR LONE STAR STATE CHALLENGE

The 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship is set to jump back into action this coming weekend as its overseas stint continues with the Lone Star Le Mans event at Circuit of the Americas. Bringing the spirit of the 24 Hours to the USA, teams and drivers will be lining up again after last July’s outing at Interlagos.

Lamborghini Iron Lynx will continue its maiden Hypercar campaign with the aim of developing its car and operation even further and take every bit of improvement potentially available for the final part of the season. Coming from a cleanly-executed race in Brazil, the team is set for another challenge away from home.

The 6-hour race will bring FIA WEC back to the Texan venue, close to the State Capital city of Austin, after a four-year hiatus. A state-of-the-art 5.5-kilometre facility, Circuit Of The Americas has a complex layout featuring elevation changes, tough sequences of medium and fast corners, and a surface featuring bumpy zones and recently repaved areas.

With the hot summer providing drivers and crews with high temperatures to cope with as they perform in the competitive FIA WEC environment, execution will be pivotal for the whole operation. Building good momentum might make the difference as the series enters its final three-event stint and the team get set for the end of the year and beyond.

The #63 Lamborghini SC63 LMDh racecar will be driven by the trio of Texas Rangers consisting of Mirko Bortolotti, Daniil Kvyat and Edoardo Mortara. Bortolotti and Mortara will compete for the first time at COTA, and will rely on the quick adaptation skills already showcased in Brazil. On the other hand, Kvyat has already raced at the track both in Formula 1, where he achieved two points finishes, and in NASCAR earlier this year.

While he is expected to bring in valuable insight, all drivers had the chance to get to know the track, as it was the location for a pre-season winter test and was recently home to a Michelin tyre test. The start of the Lone Star Le Mans is set for Sunday at 13:00 CDT (GMT-5).

We are lining up at COTA to continue maximising our operation and unlock the car’s potential. We are satisfied of how things went at São Paulo in terms of planning and execution, but we think there is still room for improvement in those areas, as well as from the car’s point of view. We already had positive testing opportunities at Austin, so we are coming with some optimisation already done, which will help for sure. From COTA to Fuji, Road Atlanta, Bahrain and the 2025 season, time will run quickly. We need to make the most out of it.
