LAMBORGHINI IRON LYNX SET FOR WATKINS GLEN IMSA EVENT

LAMBORGHINI IRON LYNX SET FOR WATKINS GLEN IMSA EVENT

Returning to action less than one week after the toughest round of the year, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Lamborghini Iron Lynx is returning back to IMSA and the Michelin Endurance Cup at Watkins Glen International this weekend. With a positive result achieved in the 12 Hours of Sebring earlier in the year, the team is looking forward to racing on another of the most outstanding venues in North America for a high-intensity challenge.

The #63 Lamborghini SC63 LMDh racecar will make its second American start in the hands of Matteo Cairoli and Andrea Caldarelli. With Romain Grosjean competing in IndyCar on the opposite side of the USA, the all-Italian duo will share duties for the 6-hour event hoping to build and improve on the team’s first outing on American soil.

Located in the green countryside of the State of New York, close to Lake Seneca, the 5.55-kilometre venue features high-speed corners with no margin for mistakes. It was home to Formula 1 until 1980 and holds the same character today. In addition, the area often provides weather challenges, with hot temperatures paired with the potential for torrential rain.

As always in IMSA, the race schedule will be compact, with the first Free Practice at 13:25 ET on Friday, Qualifying on Saturday afternoon and the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen starting on Sunday at 11:10 ET.

We are delighted to heading back to IMSA, and while it will certainly be a challenge for the team to go back-to-back after the 24 Hours of Le Mans, we really enjoy competing in the US and on a spectacular track like Watkins Glen in particular. We hope to build on our promising run in the 12 Hours of Sebring and to execute the race as best as we can to see how we will end up. As always, we have an exceptional combination of drivers by our side and we are sure they will help the team to make further steady progress.
