Tonight, Iron Dames driver Doriane Pin, won the coveted Volant d’Or award by the French Motorsport Association (FFSA) rounding off a hugely successful season for the 18-year-old female racer.
At an awards ceremony in Paris, the French driver was named Performer of the Year by the FFSA following an incredible season with the Iron Dames.
Doriane joined the Iron Dames in 2021 after finishing as a finalist in the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars competition, and has gone from strength-to-strength in her first full season with the support of the project, becoming the second female in history to be crowned Ferrari Challenge Europe Trofeo Pirelli champion.
Collecting her trophy, Doriane said: “I’m so happy to have won this award. This has been a great year for me with the Iron Dames and this is a special way to remember it.
“The project has helped me get to where I am today and I can’t thank them enough. They’ve helped me gain such valuable experience so early in my career.
“The whole project’s success this year shows how important it is to give women an opportunity in motorsport. When we work together as well as we do, we’ve shown we can compete and win in a male-dominated sport. It’s been a special year.”
Iron Dames Project Founder, Deborah Mayer, added: “I am very proud of Doriane for all she has achieved this year. Through her talent, professionalism, progress and results, she has established herself as one of the best young hopefuls at the highest international level. The rise of Doriane is magnificent proof that with the right support, determination and ambition, women can achieve anything in motorsport. The Iron Dames project is always working to nurture young talents, and with Doriane as a shining example, we want to encourage more women into motorsport, both on and off the track.
“After winning the Ferrari Challenge Europe championship, the Gold Cup at the 24 Hours of Spa and the first Iron Dames ELMS victory at Portimão at such a young age, I am confident Doriane will continue to go from strength-to-strength as an integral member of the Iron Dames family.
“Huge congratulations to Doriane, the Volant d’Or is an award to be very proud of.”
